Indian wildlife officers reported the death of a pregnant elephant due to biting a fake pineapple filled with firecrackers on the 27th.The bomb has blasted in her mouth soon after she bit the pineapple and it has caused severe damage to her jaw. Even though the locals tried to save her life in several attempts that didn’t work. However, a spokesperson had stated during an interview with Sky News that local farmers are known for booby trapping food to keep the animals which harm their fields away.

The post which was shared on Facebook by the forest officer Mohan Krishnan stated that the elephant was known for keeping trust on people. “When the pineapple she ate exploded, she must have been shocked not thinking about herself, but about the child she was going to give birth to in 18 to 20 months,” he wrote.
As per the officials, this particular elephant had roamed out of the Silent Valley National Park (SVNP) searching for something to eat. Unfortunately, this elephant had gone all the way to the Malappuram District where she found the fake pineapple trap.

According to an animal rights activist, Maneka Gandhi the district Malapurram is popular for such violent incidents. “For instance, they throw poison on roads so that 300-400 birds and dogs die at one time,” stated Maneka Gandhi. And also she stated that elephants are killed once in 3 days in Kerala.
However, according to the explanations of Mr. Krishnan the elephant hadn’t damaged any of the houses or injured a single person, although it ran in pain through the streets of the village. This elephant hadn’t moved although two captive elephants tried to get her out of the river. Finally, she passed away giving up everything amidst the river water. Officers have then taken the body of the elephant to the forest and cremated there.

Investigations are carried out to search for the culprit who has done this merciless crime. And also the authorities have announced monetary rewards for those who could give information about this insane man.
